Geology is the study of rocks and minerals. Rocks are huge, and being so big, they don’t exactly fit under a microscope, and they can’t be transported very easily. That’s where macro photography comes in. There are so many characteristics of rocks and minerals, but most of them can’t be seen by just the naked eye. Macro photography can take really up-close pictures (for analysis) and share them with other viewers around the world. Paleontology is the study of fossils (in rocks). Macro photography is helpful in this way as well to digitalize/share the fossils that come from around the world. If you’re a scientist in Africa studying fossils, you can now share your research with other scientists around the world. This is a major step in geology.
